About Us
Humble Beginnings
Perpetual Succor Hospital and Maternity began with a profound respect for life. Its founder, Dra. Josefina Singson Florendo (+), was a beacon of hope during the Japanese Occupation, defying curfew hours in Manila to deliver babies safely at her patients’ homes. Together with her surgeon husband, Dr. Raymundo T. Macaraeg (+), they transformed their vision into reality, evolving from a 25-bed maternity clinic to the 100-bed, comprehensive general hospital it is today.
Established in 1957, the hospital stands as a testament to the founders’ gratitude to Our Lady of Perpetual Succor. The birth of their only child, against all odds, was a miracle that inspired their mission. Despite being 41 and having experienced a miscarriage, Dr. Pinang, through prayer and determination, overcame the challenges of childbirth. This personal blessing became the impetus for their lifelong commitment to extend care and hope to others.
Now, more than half a century later, this pledge endures. It is evident in the compassionate care of our doctors and nurses, the dedicated support of our administrative staff, and the unwavering commitment of our management team. Together, we continue to honor and uphold the value of life – then, now, and always.
